Messages From the Land

Fen Druadin's "Messages from the Land" is a card deck and accompanying book born from a deep, sacred connection with the land nestled in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. Commissioned to bring the illustrations to life, I had the privilege of creating visual representations of this sacred space and the profound messages it shares.

The land, rich in natural beauty and ancient energy, holds powerful teachings within its 30 acres of forest, streams, and ridges. It is a place where the forest’s beech tree, known as I Watch, stands as the guardian of the entrance, and the spirits of the land—the animals, the trees, and the very earth itself—speak with quiet urgency. It was in this mystical setting that the land began offering messages, starting in 2020, that carried wisdom meant for humanity.

These messages, shared through me and passed along to friends, grew into a project that would touch more hearts. The land itself guided me in selecting 52 key messages from the many I had delivered, infusing each with its deep, reciprocal energy. The result is this card deck and book, where each message serves as a reminder of our connection to the earth and our place within the natural world.

It is with immense gratitude and reverence that I present Messages from the Land, an invitation to receive the wisdom of the forest and to listen deeply to the call of the earth.
